Lace up your running shoes, shuffle the deck, and prepare to play your best hand for a great cause at the Jokers Wild Run for Rescues on Sunday, October 4, 2026. This one-of-a-kind 5K and 1-Mile Run/Walk will benefit the Humane Society of Harris County while offering participants a race experience unlike any other.
The race begins and ends at 102 Commerce Street in downtown Pine Mountain, with a 2:00 p.m. start on the scenic, paved Man O' War Trail.
Unlike traditional races, speed alone won't determine the winners. At each kilometer along the 5K course, participants will receive a playing card. Jokers are wild, and at the finish line, awards will be based on the best five-card poker hand, not the fastest finish time. A race clock will be running for those who wish to record their time, but official awards will be determined entirely by luck of the draw.
Overall winners and age group champions will be recognized, with 5K age divisions ranging from 10 and under through 70 and over, giving runners and walkers of all ages an opportunity to win.
